Haiti, Saintilus

Job training and Christ-centered care for orphaned children are two great needs in Haiti. This is especially true in Gonaives, which is located three hours north of Port Au Prince and is historically one of the poorest parts of the country. Recent road improvements now make the region more accessible. Pastor Revnel Benoit and the Lutheran Church have served people there for years.Saintilus Site Plan

Right now, The Global Orphan Project and Benoit’s Lutheran church are partnering to develop a new type of local-church-led village. Saintilus will be the first GO Project-supported facility which offers vocational job training and orphan care. Saintilus will help give our children, who are growing up quickly, the skills they need to make the transition into successful adulthood.

Village Update: (January 2012) Saintilus is now home to 19 boys! Recently a water purification system was installed, courtesy of the Living Waters for the World ministry, in Saintilus. In addition to providing clean water for the children living here, this new system helps the village connect with the community. A large parcel of land behind the village has opened the door to a number of possibilities at Saintilus, including the future trade school.
